Former West Virginia assistant basketball coach Jerrod Calhoun was named head coach at Fairmont State on Tuesday.
Calhoun, from Cleveland, Ohio, was in his first year as an assistant for Mountaineer head coach, Bob Huggins. He also served as WVU's director of basketball operations from 2008-2011. He came to WVU in 2007 from Walsh University.
He first served under Bob Huggins as a student assistant at the University of Cincinnati in 2003-04.
For Calhoun, becoming a head coach is a dream come true.
"This is a chance of a lifetime to finally be able to run my own program," Calhoun told WV MetroNews. "When I was 12 years old, I dreamed about being a head coach and it has finally come true."
